What’s included — and what to bring
Snacks, lunches and sun cream are all provided. You just bring your child’s nappies and wipes (and their own sun cream if they have a skin allergy).
1140 funded hours — what they are
Every 3 and 4 year old in Scotland — and some 2 year olds — is entitled to 1140 hours of funded early learning and childcare a year. That’s around 30 hours a week in term time, or roughly 22 hours a week spread across the full year. It isn’t a discount scheme: the funding is paid directly by the council, so for funded hours you simply aren’t billed — and there are no top-up charges.
We deliver funded hours in our Jelly Tots & Beans room as a partner provider with South Lanarkshire Council.
Is my child eligible?
All 3 and 4 year olds qualify — no conditions attached.
Your 2 year old may also qualify, and many families don’t realise. It’s worth checking if any of these apply:
- you receive certain benefits
- your child is, or has been, looked after by the council or under a kinship care order
- you or your child have care experience
The quickest way to check is South Lanarkshire’s early years team — earlyyears@southlanarkshire.gov.uk — or Parent Club’s plain-English guide.
How you can take your funded hours
Take your 1140 hours in whichever pattern suits your week — term-time, or spread across the whole year.
Term-time — around 30 hours a week
- Three days 9am–5pm, plus one day 9am–3pm
- or three days 8.30am–4.30pm, plus one day 8.30am–2.30pm
- or five days 9am–3pm
All year round — 50 weeks, around 22.8 hours a week
- Two days 9am–5pm, plus one day 9am–3.45pm
- or two days 8.30am–4.30pm, plus one day 8.30am–3.15pm
Need more than your funded hours cover? Additional days or hours can be added for a charge — just ask and we’ll work out what suits.
Paying for the rest
We accept childcare vouchers — just check with us that we’re registered with your employer’s scheme (we’re signed up with the main ones). There’s a 5% sibling discount for families with more than one child with us.
Applying for a funded place goes through South Lanarkshire Council — we’re happy to walk you through it.
