Food & Menus
Snacks, made here
Morning and afternoon snacks are prepared on site every day.
Lunch, cooked fresh every day
A hot two-course lunch arrives fresh each day from Healthy Tots, a family-run Scottish caterer who specialise in early-years meals — so every dish is made with little ones in mind. Menus rotate over four weeks, follow the Scottish Government’s Setting the Table nutritional guidance, and come with alternative menus for dietary requirements and allergies — every allergen catered for.
Children attending funded sessions receive their lunch free, as part of Scotland’s national funded childcare commitment.
A copy of our current four-week menu — and the alternative menus for dietary needs — is available on request. Just ask when you come for a visit, or get in touch.
Growing their own — our Braw Veg sessions
Good food starts with knowing where it comes from. In partnership with Biggar Community Market Garden, our children take part in regular Braw Veg sessions — growing, harvesting and tasting fruit and vegetables for themselves. They’ve planted onions, leeks, beetroot and chard in their own raised beds, set up micro-green trays to water and watch, and tasted their way through the colours, smells and textures of seasonal Scottish produce (the Bramley apples went down especially well).
It’s hands-on healthy eating and a little biodiversity learning rolled into one — and it’s backed by real investment: we’ve won funding from Education Scotland’s Food for Thought Fund and a grant from the Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub to keep the sessions growing.
Allergy and dietary needs are recorded at registration and displayed where every member of staff can see them.
