Keeping your child safe

Leaving your child with someone else is a big thing. Here's exactly how we earn that trust — and how you can check every bit of it yourself, without taking our word for it.

Independently inspected

We're registered with the Care Inspectorate (service number CS2016345618), Scotland's regulator for care services. Inspections are unannounced — the inspector sees an ordinary day, not a prepared one — and at our latest inspection we were rated Good in all four quality areas: care, play and learning; our setting; leadership; and our staff team. We're registered to care for up to 53 children, from babies through to primary-school age.

The people who look after your child

Everyone who works with the children is a member of the PVG scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) — Scotland's background-checking system for anyone working with children. It isn't a one-off check: Disclosure Scotland continuously monitors members, so any new concern is flagged automatically.

Our practitioners are also registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), the profession's regulator, which requires each of them to hold — or be working towards — the proper qualification and to keep learning every year. You don't have to take our word for that either — just ask us for a name, and you can check any of our team on the SSSC's public register.

Small groups, more attention

We keep to careful adult-to-child ratios in every room, so there's always plenty of attention to go round.

  • Jelly Babies1 adult : 3 children
  • Jelly Tots1 adult : 5 children
  • Jelly Beans1 adult : 8 children
  • After School Club1 adult : 10 children

Our baby room is registered for up to 12 children, and the After School Club runs at one adult to ten.

A familiar face

Every child has a key worker — one person who knows their routine, their comforts and their family, and who's your point of contact day to day. When your child moves up a room, their old and new key workers plan it together, so a familiar face is always part of the change.

Trained and ready

Our manager and depute manager are our named safeguarding and child protection leads, and every one of our practitioners holds current paediatric first aid and food hygiene training — so whether a child takes a tumble or needs their lunch just so, someone qualified is always on hand.

Only the adults you've named and authorised may collect your child, and entry to the building is controlled — no one comes in or out without us knowing.

If something isn't right

Please tell us first — your key worker or the manager — and we'll deal with it properly and quickly. But you should never feel you have to go through us: you can raise any concern directly with the Care Inspectorate on 0345 600 9527, at any time. That route exists so you never have to take our word for anything.
